Monthly update

Sorry bit behind showing with my monthly update, as school holidays and a lot going on it my life just at the moment, meaning not getting time for blogging....

Anyway, better late than never, lol

For CC Challenge I found an old QVC Multi technique Kit that I bought back in March 2008 when it was a One Time Only at half price of £17.50 (still selling on QVC for £35 now).....

so managed to make a few cards from the kit, (still got loads to use though...) and these are the made up ones, will add the butterflies and glitter as and when they are needed....

and for Gina's Christmas challenge have started a couple of snowman advent calenders which I've not quite finished yet, so this will be March and Aprils Christmas Challenge...

Sorry no tags for the 52q as have not had the time for these, (something had to give)...I've have wrote down the questions and done the answers up to date, but it's getting the tags made......hopefully soon.....

Talented son.......

Have I ever told you how talented my son is....., well a few years back he designed one of the school Christmas cards, thought you might like to see it....

....and here is our Christmas Cake he helped make at school last Christmas, it was as good at it looks, with rum and all..

We had hoped to have ago at making some cookies over the school holidays, but other things got in the way like, rushing my dad into hospital again, loosing another one of Stevens friends and in the 2nd week I was not very well at all, had a bad cough and cold, which left me totally drained (which is so unlike me).....

So Steven didn't get the chance to do any cooking, but think he still had a good break with bowling, picnics and pub lunches instead...Oh well, there's always May half term holidays....

I hope you all had a lovely Easter break....

My baby is 18.....

....Yes it's official I'm getting old, as my baby turned 18 last month, I just don't know where have the years gone....

We didn't know what to get him for a present, presents are so much easier for girls, for our daughter she had a silver watch for her 18th and a white gold diamond necklace and matching earrings for her 21st....but what can you buy a handson young lad who has everything he could ever want, including a wooden tie, lol.....

Here is the card I made him.....

(I'm sure the mums with younger children will recognize Mr Tumble from Something Special on CBeebies)...

We had a party for him with 80 of his friends and family, which he seemed to enjoy, was in a little shock seeing his school friends and their parents in the same room as family from Portsmouth and Bristol, and friends from Poole....

.....and must admit Steven did look a little tearful when his sessional worker came in, as thinking about it now, he probably thought she had come to take him out, in other words away from the party.....I know I shouldn't say it, but it was quite sweet watching him give her the odd look over his shoulder to make sure she never made a move, lol... in other words it showed how much he was enjoying himself, as normally he cannot get out the door quick enough with her when she normally turns up.

There was a slight downer at the party though, and that was my dad was too poorly to attend, so we did miss my mum and dad, and I know they missed not coming...

....especially as my darling daughter or should I say not so darling daughter now suddenly appeared with a birthday cake for me, so I ended up having 80 people singing me happy birthday, and to say I was a little embarrassed would be an understatement, lol.....

Steven was fine with this, as we've shared our birthdays since he was born, lol the last time they embarrassed me was on my 40th, when Steven had a bowling party and yes another Birthday cake for me this time with a lovely photo of me with permed hair in my college days.....so I suppose I should have counted myself lucky this was just a shop bought cake with no picture......

MAGS Easter run...

Not sure if you remember the Christmas MAGS run (stands for Motorbike Action GroupS) well they were out in force again last Saturday... this time with Easter eggs and money they had raised along the way, (over £500, which is going to buy a special adapted bike for school)...

We were lucky with the weather this time, it was a lovely dry and sunny, and about 148 bikes arrive....

....you can imagine the site in front the school and the noise when they arrived....

Here are some of the Easter eggs they had bought for us....

Then it was drinks and Hot Cross Buns in the school canteen and hall, where they presentation us with the money they had collected....

....then all out to see them leave to go up on Portsdown Hill for a well earned ice-cream (in the rain, cos just as they started leaving it started to rain, lol)

Steven found the bike he wanted....which I liked as it was a 3 seater, so I could chill out on the back, lol....

When the bikes started to go, we stood to the side watching, some were louder than others, so every now and again, Steven would jump or squeeze my hand when a noisy one left, lol, yet he was still with a smile on his face and flapping like he does when he's happy....

In all a lovely end to a lovely day.....

why is life so cruel?

Another one of Stevens friends past away at the weekend, he was only 21...

...also saw one of my neighbors this afternoon after picking Steven up, for her to say her friend who got told 4 weeks ago had cancer, also died at the weekend...

...it seems so unfair....

WOW where has the time gone.....

Cannot believe it's been over 2 weeks since my last post, but to be honest it feels a lot longer, so why have I been absent....

Well I've aged a year, my baby has turned 18 and had a party, my son has been away on holiday over the Island of Wight to Little Canada again, been away for a over night break with hubby, been taking my dad for hospital and doctors appointments, (he's not been too good at all) have had LEA and council meetings about Steven, seen day care centers, spoke to colleges, child and adult respite meetings, and to top it all, hubby is working away all week till the end of May, so in all a very emotional few weeks.....

Will take a photo of the lovely cards and gifts that both Steven and I were lucky enough to receive for our birthdays from my crafty friends, thank you to all that sent us things.....

Also will sort out some photos of Stevens 18th party....

I've not done any crafting in the 2 weeks, as just be so shattered in one way or another, emotionally drained, not even been on any website and hardly on the computer....Thank you to my friends that have kept me sane with emails and sorry if I've not got back to you as yet, but hopefully next week is going to be a little easier, as not so many appointments just quite a few phone calls to make, but saying that, they might lead to more appointments...

So watch this space, lol,

right so it's bye for now, as I'm off to try and catch up with some blogs.....

Monthly craft update...

Have had a busy February, so didn't have much spare time so.......

.......for my Christmas challenge that gina (MRS TSV) on do-crafts site, I altered just over a dozen notebooks for presents.... it's a great way of using odd bits of paper up.... I put elastic round them using my Big Bite that I had for Christmas....

and for CC challenge of 'using something old up'.... well did a different type of 'using something old up' this month, as I dug out some crochet hooks, wool, crochet cotton and a book 'learn to crochet' that I've had for years...

... had kept meaning to ask my nan to teach me to crochet as she's made some lovely items over the years, from blankets to place mats.... but like most things, I always was too busy and it was always, oh I'll do it tomorrow, but tomorrow never seemed to come and she pass several years ago.....

well over on do-crafts some of the girls had started talking about crocheting and started with making crochet hearts and flowers....a lot of them have never crocheted before, and that got me to think of how I'd always wanted to learn, then remembered about my stash upstairs in a draw and went and dug it out....

so here is my efforts at crochet hearts in red wool and beige crochet cotton....am hoping to have a go at the flowers soon, as now I've started would like to keep it up and hopefully when I feel confident enough would like to teach my great niece's, so keep an old craft going.....
