Herb garden....

Been keeping myself extra busy a few weeks back, with sorting out my herb garden, as it got a little neglected last year as had a bit of a bad year (and there was me thinking this year would be better, lol).... in fact everything in the garden got neglected, so am trying to make up for it this year by doing little extra bits every week...

Here are the photos I took of how it started out, the re-building of it and finally to how it looks today... don't think the basil and sage took very well, so got them to re-plant....

but Sam's beetroot is growing well, a bit too well though, I think she should have thinned them out, but you cannot tell them, they have to learn the hard way, saying that she's not watered them since planting them, she's lucky I do hers when I water my herbs, lol....

I went to the tip last Thursday with the trimmings from the bushes hubby and I trimmed the other weekend and the trimmings from the trees round our garden that the gardener trimmed on weds for us....

As so much and heavy, needed some help with getting the bag tipped into the compost bin, (it was a B&Q bag that I had delivered with sand via a lorry, anyway thought it was a good idea at the time when filling it up, thinking just the one bag to take to the tip, didn't think about the weight of it when full, lol)....

Anyway, the bin man saw my bandaged finger so he got another man to help him so I didn't have to lift it, which I thought was sweet of them (see, sometimes it pays to be a woman)...

Just wished they had been around when I was trying to get the bag in the back of my micra, don't think it was pretty site, me in my cycle shorts and t/shirts (as just been to the gym), pulling, pushing and squeezing the bag from all directions, lol.... in future will miss out the gym, as putting the bag in the car was a work out in itself.......

It's the weeds on the patio for the next few weeks, an easier option, no chance of me cutting myself and that they should actually fit in my compost bin, so no going to the tip (and getting spiders in my car, YUK)....

A page for Sues fat book

Here's the page I did for Sues fat book...

Thought I would go for a tranquil front page..............

then.......

wanted to put a smile on Sue's face with the back of it, lol.....

It was an idea from Mgt and Gina on do-craft..... mgt rounding all the pages up and making them into a book... so a big thank you both for letting me part of it...

Sue loved it and took it into Hospital with her when she went.... she is now safe and sound back at home, thank goodness....
...and I know when she feels up to it, she will do a slide show of all the pages that make up the book on her blog, I for one cannot wait to see it, and will give you the link when it's up and running.....

Guess what I've been up to?

Like I said in the 'Honest Scrap' awards, we have a 'G' scale railway in our garden, so on saturday thought I'd better help hubby sort out the 'bushes' in the garden by making them into 'little trees'...

started off quite well as you can see below, then......

Then I had a slight accident with the secateurs, I cut the top off my index finger on my left hand, thank goodness I'm right handed...

Sam drove me to the minor accident hospital, as wouldn't stop bleeding, in fact before hubby put some dressing's on it, it kept squirting blood right over my 'basil' that we were having for tea (thought about changing it to tomato sauce instead of basil, cos of the colour, lol)...

Was lucky not too busy at the hospital, so I saw a nurse who clean it up, but then had to see a Doctor as had to check the nerve endings etc. (he said he's had men fainting with this sort of cut before, so good job I'm not a man, lol), anyway everything was fine....
He then got another nurse to dress it, and put a 'clotting' dressing on it, and have an appointment to see my local nurse to have the dressing changed, they gave me Tuesday, but will be otherwise engaged that day, so must phone up and change it to Wednesday tomorrow....

my poorly finger......

I took the photos of the bushes before and after, as was going to say I've been doing a different type of crafting this weekend and not because I cut off my finger top, lol.....

Old colossal paper

Ann C on do-crafts set a challenge to use up old stash for a L/O, so I used some of the famous colossal paper, not as much as sue-bubbles used, in fact just 2 sheets (one yellow with stars on it, and blue swirls for the backing of the photos).....

....so only another 198 pieces to go, lol

these photos are of Steven getting ready and preforming in the Rock Challenge 2008...

....they came away with 2 well deserved awards.....

Just want to say.....

a BIG THANK YOU for all the kind messages, emails, personal messages, cards and dotee I've received concerning my dad....

both my family and I are very greatful, I still feel numb, but people say that is understandable, but maybe things might seem more real after the funeral on the 16th June....

the reason we have to wait so long, is because my mum wants it to be special and that was the earliest date it could all come together for what she wants..... and I agree you only have one chance of saying goodbye and yes it has to be special with no regrets especially for my mum....

my world has changed.....

My dad past away just over a week ago, (in some ways it feels like longer, but in the next minute I feel it's all a dream), it was such a shock, in fact he was talking about Newcastle going down just before he left us....

my mum and dad had been together for 55 years, starting out as a young 11 and 13 year old... they were lucky to have celebrated their 49th Wedding Anniversary a few days earlier, but dad didn't make it to he's 69th Birthday, to me 68 is way to young....

I am lucky to say he was my friend as well as my dad, don't get me wrong, we didn't always see eye to eye, yet I could tell him to 'shut up' if he wound me up or upset me, then in the next instant talk to him about it being the wrong time of the month if I was ratty or had a tummy ache...

I think we had a great relationship and I'm going to miss him dreadfully, I'm so pleased he didn't suffer though (OK he did with the treatment) but not in the end... he was with the women of he's life, my mum, sister and me, I was holding he's hand...and I can honestly say to my daughter he died peacefully, he just looked up at my mum and fell asleep........

In fact that's why I find it so hard to believe I won't see him again, as he looked like he was just asleep, it's hard to think I won't be able to laugh and joke with him, for him to do 'round around the garden' with Steven, or try to sing along with the teletubbies (which he never did get the hang of, lol)

How do I tell Steven the man he loved and looked forward to seeing, is not here any more.... I'm lucky I've had a few emails with addresses and words of help from people, and we've decided to say 'grandad' has gone up to heaven' and we plan on getting a balloon, putting grandads picture on it, so Steven can release it and we can wave goodbye.....

dad, I might not be seeing you again here on earth, but I have lots and lots of happy memories and can honestly say I was proud to be your daughter RIP
